Camilo was raised in Bogota, Colombia and graduated Summa Cum Laude (with the highest distinction) as a result of his graduation thesis research. This award has only been gained by a handful of graduates in more than 85 years at the National University of Colombia. Camilo was also awarded ‘Best Graduation Papers’ in Health Sciences and achieved third place in the Otto de Greiff prize, a national competition for research in health.

Motivated by his enthusiasm to contribute to the community, Camilo completed a year of Social Service in a hospital for the underprivileged and then established his first private practice in 2005. Three years later, Camilo enrolled in a Masters Degree in Prosthodontics at the National University of Colombia. He attained a Merit Thesis award and a scholarship for his second year as a result of his outstanding academic achievements.

Due to his popularity, he opened two more practices. In 2012 he became a Clinical Professor having attained his Masters Degree of Prosthodontics. Camilo was awarded for producing the best graduation research papers three years consecutively. His research was in the field of dental materials such as porcelain, titanium and composite.

Following his decision to move to Australia, Camilo has undergone a series of exams to become a registered Australian dentist. Due to his exceptional technical and clinical decision-making abilities, he has also guided and coached other overseas dentists to help them pass their exams.

Currently he is enjoying his role as a dentist in North West Dental, Wynyard, where Dr Camilo offers his full range of services.

Living in the North West region, Camilo makes the most of his free time with his family. He enjoys nature photography, cooking new dishes, going on trail adventures with his son Julian and preparing for the arrival of his new son, Martin.

Camilo enjoys the vast range of wines, produce and artisanal products that Tasmania has to offer. He also likes listening to rock and classical music and watching soccer or AFL, having been an Essendon supporter since 2018.
